Visitor Reviews
10 rated reviews
Diamond Creek Trailhead has an aggregate rating of 4.6 out of 5, based on 37 reviews. Reviewers describe the trails as offering breathtaking views and exciting exploration, with trails suitable for all ages. The Beach Trail is specifically recommended, though it is noted to be very slippery, so proper boots are advised. The trail starts high in the mountains and ends at the beach, with creeks and wood along the way. The trail network is highlighted as a cornerstone of the community, created through thousands of hours of volunteer community service. It features 4.3 miles of singletrack wandering through the forest of the upper bench. The trail is described as easy at first, becoming tighter closer to the beach. There are moderate elevation gains and some steep, narrow sections, with muddy patches and steep drop-offs to navigate. The hike is considered overall easy to moderately easy, with good trails at the top for a very easy 3-mile loop. The beach destination offers nice tide pools, fun boulders, and copious amounts of coal scattered around, including complete veins of coal appearing as slabs of pitch black emerging from the sand. Reviewers advise visiting during low tide to enjoy the tide pools and to pay attention to the tides to avoid being trapped. The route tracks along bluffs above the creek, mostly downhill to the coast and then uphill back to the parking area. Camping spots are available, but firewood is not, so visitors must bring their own. A yurt at the end can be rented, and users are asked to keep it clean. Reviewers recommend packing water and wearing good boots.
These trails are a cornerstone of the community. Thousands of hours of community service by volunteers have created this fantastic network. There are 4.3 miles of singletrack wandering through the forest of the upper bench. A primitive, …
It's a trail head.... Nicer trail, you can go down the the beach and there are nice tide pools, you can hike to Anchor Point, or down to Homer, or back up to the trail head. If your hiking the beach, pay attention to the tides.
Amazing views and Trail for walking and bicycles. Tons of spots to camp, firewood not available you'll have to bring your own firewood. Trail is easy at first and get tight the closer you get to the beach. There is a yort at the end that you can rent, enjoy and please keep it clean.
Overall an easy hike. But there were some moderate elevation gains. Awesome views. You need to be aware of the tides so that you don’t get trapped.
Steep, and narrow in places down to the beach. (moderately easy) out and back. Good trails without a climb up top. You can get a good 3 miles in uptop. (Very easy) loop.
A nice hike down to the beach. There are a few muddy patches along the trail to navigate around, or through, and some steep drop offs that you must be careful with, but worth the hike to the scenic beach.
We love this trail, be mindful that it is steep and often muddy, but the end is so worth the work it takes. Pack water and wear good boots!
Definitely visit during low tide to enjoy the tide pools, fun boulders on the beach, copious amounts of coal scattered around the beach and even complete veins of coal appearing as slabs of pitch black emerging from the sand
A good hiking option in Homer. The route tracks along bluffs above the creek and is mostly downhill to the coast then uphill back to the parking.
