I do recommend for you to have a 4x4 to drive down to the parking. You will need sunblock, water a hat, and very good walking shoes. Lots of rocks and lava. You will see lots of turtles. It's a very beautiful walk along the coast.

The road to get to the reserve was very bumpy and quite long. Just brace yourself and go very slow unless you have an SUV or jeep. We drove as far as we could go and then took a short walk to the beach area. Pretty black sand but you may …
Always a nice spot! Snorkeling, Honu, dolphins in the morning, 8 camp sites but reserve early (30 days out at Midnight)... No water but clean Luas. Gates locked at 7pm nightly so pretty quiet... Black sand and some Rocky areas. Good for fishing and diving
Gate was closed due to recent storms and road damage, so it was a one mile walk to the beach. We were told it is due to open on March 23. The park area looks a bit rough because of some recent brush and tree removal. We had a nice walk north to the Bali house and back to the lot.
Perfect strip of black sand beach. We were able to watch whales 🐋 do flips in the ocean in front of us. Someone kite surfed, canoed and sail boarded off this same beach. But watch for the surf break, it's a leg breaker. We also found out we were sitting right in front of the once owned home of Loretta Lynn. …
Bumpy Road. One road we didn't go cause the ruts were too deep. But what a nice view!
Definitely the go to beach spot. Road and parking is good. Turn off Queens highway and about a half mile. Camp to left. Queen bath and snorkeling to the right.
A must see n do ! 10.5 miles north of the Kona airport, past mile marker 83. Use the Vista …
Nice place to camp amongst the trees on a beach of black lava pebbles. Reservations are checked around sunset. Tidy portaloos without smell. The road in is not signposted, but google is accurate. Turn into the viewing point just after the sideroad if coming from Kona. The road down is shingle but can be driven with 2wd going slowly.
